The collection together
Compound comparison
The anatomy provides a useful arrangement: abdominal fat, organ events, skin structure and experimental repair. Each compound reaches the collection by a different route.
Clinical and experimental subjects
| Compound | The finding and its setting |
|---|---|
| Tesamorelin | Reduced visceral and liver fat in adults with HIV and abdominal fat accumulation receiving antiretroviral treatment. |
| Semaglutide | Greater weight loss in STEP 1, fewer combined cardiovascular events in SELECT and fewer combined kidney-disease events in FLOW, each in its specified adult population. |
| GHK-Cu | Increased collagen synthesis in cultured human fibroblasts, alongside small topical skin studies summarized in reviews. |
| BPC-157 | Reduced gastric ulcer area in rats and vascular findings in animal and cell models; human efficacy remains unestablished. |
Tissues and clinical problems determine the arrangement I can defend. A human cardiovascular outcome and a rat ulcer measurement contain very different kinds of information.
Fat distribution and total weight
Tesamorelin’s pooled trials describe reduced visceral, trunk and hepatic fat with increased lean body mass in HIV-associated lipodystrophy. STEP 1 describes body-weight change with semaglutide in adults with overweight or obesity without diabetes.
The mechanisms differ too. Tesamorelin amplifies growth-hormone release from the pituitary; semaglutide acts through GLP-1, affecting appetite, digestion and glucose regulation. A wish for a smaller waist can obscure the distinction between those biological jobs and their approved treatment settings.
I favour leaving the anatomical measurements visible. They make the tesamorelin and semaglutide pages more useful than a winner-and-loser list.
Skin structure and gastric repair
GHK-Cu’s collagen culture result concerns production of supporting material. BPC-157’s ulcer result concerns healing of damaged rat stomach lining. The copper penetration experiment used excised human skin, while the BPC-157 vascular experiments used animal models and cultured cells.
The GHK-Cu page follows the skin material and the preparation that must reach it. The BPC-157 page follows ulcers, blood vessels and the much smaller human literature. Grouping them as repair peptides provides a starting category, with considerable anatomical distance still to travel.
Medical status
Approved semaglutide medicines have defined prescription indications. Tesamorelin’s US approval concerns excess abdominal fat in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy. GHK-Cu appears in cosmetics as Copper Tripeptide-1 and has no approved drug indication. BPC-157 has no FDA-approved human treatment use.
The semaglutide safety literature can identify gastrointestinal and biliary problems because considerable human testing exists. With BPC-157, the tiny human dataset leaves a much larger unknown. A shorter warning list for a sparsely studied compound offers little basis for reassurance.
Neither the category peptide nor a plausible mechanism supplies an individual treatment decision. That requires clinical assessment of the condition, the exact medicine and the person’s health history.
